The Challenge

Two Slovak lawyers decided to launch their own practice — Ettor & Niess, a criminal law firm based in Bratislava with expertise across criminal, civil, business, administrative, and constitutional law. They had the legal talent. They had the ambition. What they didn't have was a brand.

Most law firms play it safe: navy blue, serif type, stock photo handshakes. These founders wanted the opposite. They'd seen our work on Ikony.tv — the award-winning web documentary — and came to us specifically because they wanted something equally unconventional. A law firm website with real storytelling. A brand that would make people stop scrolling.

We were starting from zero. No existing identity, no guidelines, no website. Just two lawyers with strong opinions and a healthy disrespect for boring design.

Our Approach

We built Ettor & Niess from the ground up. The brand identity leans into bold colour and collage — a deliberately unexpected choice for a legal practice. We wanted the visual language to reflect the firm's character: intellectually sharp, culturally literate, and unafraid to stand out.

We built a unified brand system with a flexible identity that connects all branches while giving each enough room to breathe. The visual language draws from the natural world Huslík protects: organic, warm, and unmistakably alive.

The website was conceived as a storytelling experience. Rather than a conventional firm site with service lists and team photos, we structured it as a series of chapters — each unfolding through parallax-driven animation and carefully layered content. The founders are deeply invested in the culture of law and language, so the site is rich with their own writing: original texts, reflections, and quotations from Roman law to contemporary legal philosophy. Content was developed through a collaborative back-and-forth — they drafted, we shaped, they refined, we designed around it.

The result is a website that reads more like a curated editorial piece than a law firm homepage. Every scroll reveals a new layer.

The Result

Ettor & Niess launched with a brand and website unlike anything else in the Slovak legal market. In an industry defined by visual conformity, they now have a digital presence that commands attention and communicates expertise through storytelling rather than stock imagery. The bold collage-based identity and chapter-driven website structure set a new standard for what a law firm can look like online.

The firm continues to use the brand system and website as a central part of their client acquisition.
